Hinge Terminology & Conditions of Sale

Gauge	Thickness of a hinge leaf
Leaf	The portion of a hinge extending laterally from the knuckle and which usually revolves around a pin.
Leaf Width	The dimension from the center of the pin to the outer edge of the leaf.
Hinge Width	The overall dimension of the leaves measured (same as open width) perpendicular to, or across, the pin.
Pin	A rod running the length of the hinge. The pin holds the leaves of the hinge together.
Knuckle	Cylindrical part at the joint of a hinge through which a pin is passed. The knuckle is often called a loop, roll, curl, node or joint.
Knuckle Diameter	The outside diameter of the knuckle.
Knuckle Length	The dimension of a knuckle measured parallel to the pin.
Pitch	The dimension from a point on the knuckle to the same point on an adjacent knuckle on the same leaf.
End Play	The amount of axial movement between the leaves.
Swaging	The forming of one or both leaves toward or beyond the center of the pin. Swaging slightly increases leaf width.
Offset	The forming of one or both leaves away from the center of the pin. Offsetting slightly decreases leaf width.
Paint Clearance	Space dimension from knuckle edge to adjacent leaf edge.
Stake	A means of securing the pin.

Minimum Orders	Our minimum order is $100.00
Taxes	All orders are subject to applicable sales taxes, unless proof of resale certificate is provided.
Freight	Unless otherwise noted, all shipments are F.O.B. from our shipping facilities in Montague, California. Our shipping department will route via the least costly and most reliable carriers in the event that you do not designate one.
Ordering	All orders must be accompanied by a written purchase order. To insure accuracy in filling your order, please include our catalog part number and shipping instructions.
Returned Goods	No parts or products can be returned for credit without being assigned a returned goods authorization number.
Cancellation	All orders for non-stock items are binding and, if cancelled, the consumer is responsible for any costs incurred by Knuth Hinge up to the point of cancellation.
Inactive Accounts	An account that has been inactive for one year or more must be reestablished with current credit references.
Warranty	Our warranty is limited to the replacement of any defective parts or components. Claims must be filed within 10 days of receipt of goods. Damage to the product resulting from misuse or abuse will void our warranty.
Special Tooling	A tooling charge may be imposed for any special tooling made to manufacture non-standard items. Any such tooling will remain the property of Knuth Hinge Company. Any tooling which has remained inactive for a period of (2) years may be scrapped.
